Humidity Indicator Cards (HICs) are used to determine the moisture level inside packaging, in particular in moisture barrier bags for electronic components and moisture-sensitive materials. Each spot is calibrated to change from brown (dry) to azure (wet) when the relative humidity printed below it is exceeded. The color change is reversible (JEDEC Type 1).
The cards are available with 1, 3 or 6 spots, with detection thresholds between 5% and 60% RH, and are used together with desiccant bags inside the packaging. They comply with Directive 2011/65/EU (RoHS) and are free of cobalt II chloride and SVHC under REACH, as well as heavy metals and PFAS (Regulation (EU) 2025/40, Article 5).
